How Does Spray Tanning Work?

Spray tanning is a quick, safe and effective way to achieve a tanned effect on your skin. Spray tanning uses an active ingredient called dihydroxyacetone or DHA to enhance the colour of your skin. This is achieved by the technician using a low-pressure spraying machine.

DHA is a colourless sugar-based product which interacts with the proteins and amino acids in the outer layer of your skin to turn it a golden-brown colour. The solution that is sprayed onto your skin is a guide for the technician. The colour will develop over a period of 6-8 hours. You will then need to shower and this guide colour will wash off and you will be left with your golden tan.

How should I prepare for my spray tan?

Exfoliate at least 24-48 hours before your appointment, shave or wax at least 24 hours before your appointment, Arrive with no products on the skin i.e makeup/deodorants/moisturisers/perfumes. Wear loose dark clothing avoiding any tight jeans/leggings/tops and bras straight after.

When do you reccommend getting my spray tan?

To get the best results we reccommend roughly 48 hours before your event or holiday.

How can I prolong my spray tan?

The first 24 hours are most important, wait to rinse properly following your beauticicans reccommended timings, moisturise daily, shower in luke warm water avoiding hot water and skip any harsh products that could remove the tan.
